issue with network playback since firmware update
issue with network playback since firmware update
Hi all ,
beyonwiz U4 has been working fine for years but new update , here we go .
update process went fine , but since then , the U4 has been stopping playback randomly during fille platyback.
Of course i can resume by playing and choosing to resume from time it dropped out.
anyone else having this ? any clues.

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
Might be a good idea to enable debug logging via the web interface.
Play a file, and wait for it to stop, and then take a copy of the debug log.
I assume that it is just stopping and returning you to the media player GUI interface, and not rebooting, or just bombing back to live TV or anything extra weird like that?
Also, your title mentions network playback specifically. Is it only files from your network that exhibit this problem? Does it happen to both recordings and other downloaded media? Have you copied any of those files to the U4 harddisk and tried them there?
Do the files always stop at a particular spot, or completely random?
Do some file types show the problem and others not, or less frequently?

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
it either stops and freezes on last frame or dumps back to file index , no reboots etc .
i say network playback , as i have not seen the issue for on board files (tv recordings etc .)
its random and will not do it in same plase on the same file.

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
Thanks for that.
See if you can perform some of the other steps I mentioned to see if it is network related or media file type related.
The debug log would be very useful for diagnosing what is happening.
You mentioned that the update process went fine. Did the update come down via an online update, or did you perform a manual USB update?
There have been some network changes since the last public release, but off the top of my head, I can't think of anything that might cause random dropouts like you are seeing.

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
Those lines look like they are from /var/log/messages and are from a week ago.
Are you able to upload the current debug log file that captures a time period when the file playback failed.
The debug log file can be found in the location specified in the OpenWebIf log settings page. It will be in /home/root/logs by default (I would recommend setting the destination to your HDD instead though.

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
No, from /home/root/logs/enigma2_execution.log. The "terminated with" codes indicate the reason why the PVR UI shut down; 2 is for a normal reboot, 41 is for a reboot to restore settings.
But as you said, all of them from 6 days ago.

Re: issue with network playback since firmware update
You need to restart the GUI for debug logging to take effect.
The extract from enigma2_execution.log shows the GUI hasn't been restarted since 12-Jan.
Wireless or ethernet connected U4?
