Playing ISO image

Post by Confused » Mon Jul 09, 2018 16:15

I'm waiting for my T2 to be delivered. In the meantime I'm reading up a bit about it. I notice that it seems to support playback of ISO files. Does this mean that if I ripped a DVD & saved it as an ISO file & you can get the full DVD experience like scene selection menus, chapter navigation etc?
Thanks In advance

It will read ISOs and can access the menus and scenes etc. The DVD interface is slightly different to the regular media player interface and to be honest, I've personally not fully explored the full capabilities and limitations of the this. (Like fancy subtitle support and seamless branching etc...)

As always, it is recommended to rip to a basic container format rather than persist with ISOs of you can help it.

I only thought of this because we have DVD's of all our past holidays either on DVD's or more recently Blu-Rays & I could easily put them all onto one USB stick, since I'm assuming that I can play them from there.

As storage continues to shrink people are trying new things. I know someone who who has about 20,000 photo's & their entire music library on a micro SD card, on both his phone & tablet. That's not bad I'll have to ask some time if the devices can find & play files quickly of if the list is indexed.
Thanks In advance

Self produced ISOs like yours should pose no problems as long as your mastering software built them properly.

Simple DVD menus work for me but It can get tripped up by non-standard/complex menus. If that happens, sometimes I play the VOBs individually with File Commander if I can find them. It's a bit hit or miss though when I do it that way. As MrQuade said, better to use basic container formats like mkv or mp4 when you can.
