U4 recommendation

A bad default config was shipped on all U4s. This config makes it difficult to access the AutoTimer feature.

The most obvious symptom of the problem is that the AutoTimer entry is missing from the main menu.

If you press MENU from live TV and the menu does not show an AutoTimer entry:
  • Use USB to flash 17.5-20180417
  • Do not restore settings from backup
  • Proceed with the installation wizard
  • Apply any online updates that may be offered
  • Configure settings as desired
  • Backup your settings
Alternatively, if you are on the most current online update, you can do "System/Factory reset" to delete the settings and then choose not to restore backup on the reboot.

Once you have completed these steps, the main menu should have an AutoTimer entry.

Hi,

I don't know if this will work, but is it possible to remove the AutoTimer plugin, reboot, then re-install it, and reboot again? Then the config would (should) be fixed.

Just a thought, as re-doing a setup can be a pain. Although new users may as well get used to the process.

No that will not work.

I have split off the multitude of thread hijacking posts into their own topics in the most appropriate areas.

I'm locking this topic to prevent further hijacks.
