T2 Youtube plugin

Post by robsan » Thu Nov 02, 2017 14:04

Need help please.
I have downloaded the Youtube plugin as the Youtube app that comes with the T2 has issues(sound but no video).
So now I have a problem with the Youtube Plugin.
When I select a Youtube video such as a music video it does not play and the message that comes up is "There was an error in extract video url: Signature extraction failed !".
So basically I cannot access youtube on my T2 which I'm not happy about.
Can anybody help me please to get Youtube working ?
Regards,
Rob.

Remove the plugin and update to the latest beta (20171028), which has a working YouTube plugin.

Update your T2 firmware to the latest beta version (17.5 series), and activate the beta update feed after that.

Links and instructions for that are here.

Youtube broke their web feed to the Youtube plugin, so an update was made at the Beyonwiz end to work around that new broken behaviour.

Once you update to the latest firmware, the built-in Youtube plugin will once again be functional.

See this other thread for more info about the Youtube failure.

If you don't want to install the beta firmware just yet then there you could try another alternative YouTube plugin "TSTube" (its UI isn't as jazzy as the pre-installed "YouTube TV" plugin).

You shouldnt have needed to re-install any plugins after the firmware update. The Youtube plugin comes already loaded. I'd recommend using the default one rather than installing a different one from the plugin library.

In fact, one of the two default plugins: TSTube or YouTube.

OK - then that is really strange because I do not have YouTube TV. I have YouTube and TSTube and I deliberately didn't install them at the last USB upgrade.

A little history: I manually installed these two plugins a couple of weeks back. No argument there.

Last weekend I did a full USB upgrade to 17.5 and did not restore settings. Entire setup from scratch. Downloaded 17.5 to USB. Updated by USB. Edited the network setting by hand. Setup Favourites by hand. Manually added Reconstructapsc, Series2Folder and Overlay HD. Enabled beta feed. Accepted online updates. Applied Adoxa's cutlist editor patch.
Seeing YouTube and TSTube in Menu and in Menu>Plugins, I took that to be the change to the YouTube plugin referred to in the other thread. When I manually installed them they were not listed in Menu.

I did not, however, manually reinstall YouTube or TSTube. Nor did I manually remove YouTube TV. So somehow, these two have survived the USB update and YouTube TV was removed. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that impossible?

There is no separate "YouTube TV plugin" that you can install and uninstall. The "YouTube TV" menu entry comes from the Opera/HbbTV installation. If you are on the latest 17.5 beta, have installed all the online updates and rebooted, then it should be there.

A reboot has brought YouTube TV up under the Recordings menu. One mystery solved easily. Still mystified how I come to have the other entries in plugins though. Regardless, the TSTube plugin is quite usable so I'm in no hurry to remove it.

Yes, Opera, HbbTV and YouTube TV (which are really just Opera anyway) will not run on the first boot following a firmware upgrade.

As you have discovered, after rebooting, Opera will be fully functional.
