Backing up settings and moving house.

Post by emmsee » Wed Dec 09, 2015 11:20

Grey Nomads who move location occasionally.
On my T2 I have settings backed up.
Also have several auto timers.
When I move to a new location, say from Newcastle to Wollongong, will I need to redo all my autotimers?
I'm assuming the LCN 's will change?
Other than a rescan is there anything else I should do?

AutoTimers don't use LCNs. But that shouldn't cheer you up, because they match by serviceref, and servicerefs can change even when the LCNs do not. So any restrictions of AutoTimers to a specific channels are likely to break. Uses of bouquets in Autotimers should not break, once you've rescanned and remade any Favourites buoquets.

Ordinary timers use servicerefs, too, so they are all likely to become invalid, even if the LCNs stay the same.

For example:
1:0:1:93E:9B0:3282:EEEE0000:0:0:0: PRIME7 Newcastle
1:0:1:942:99F:3281:EEEE0000:0:0:0: PRIME7 Wollongong
The colon-separated string of numbers is the serviceref for the service.

You'll need to remove all the timers created by Autotimers, change any references to specific channels in the autotimers, and then let the AutoTimers run. You'll also need to re-set the channel in any other timers you've created.

After the scan, you'll also need to remake any Favourites lists that you've made.
