The Terrestrial LCN TV bouquet doesn't have the radio services. If you post the Last Scanned with just WIN in it I can merge that with the old data.

Thanks, benhsau.

I've added the Spencer Gulf picon setup to my data, and I've submitted the changes to the picon repository.

I've also corrected the picon used for SC Tasmania in the Hobart and Launceston picon setups. The difference is fairly subtle: the "star" will be slightly bigger and there will only be one smudged line of text under the star, rather than two. I had been using the picon for Southern Cross in Spencer Gulf & Broken Hill as the one for Tasmania. :oops:

Provided there are no problems with the updates, they should appear in the next firmware releases, beta and official, whenever they are made.

Put the xml in a zip, call it what ever town you're in, and attach it to a post here.

Someone will be along shortly to collect it.

Please post a ZIP of the data. I don't have the facilities to deal with 7ZIP. You can just delete the 7ZIP in the original post and upload a new ZIP.

Has Nine/WIN's Gold2 been replaced everywhere by eXtra? I can see that it has been for WIN Canberra and WIN Western Vic, but is Gold2 still around anywhere on Nine and affiliates? Look at the service name, not at the picon. I think the picon may well be wrong in a lot of places.

Added: it looks like the change was across the board:
Wikipedia wrote:GOLD2 was replaced by the Nine Network's metropolitan informercial channel eXtra on 21 January 2016.
It always was a complete waste of bits (even more than its mere content):
Wikipedia wrote:WIN launched a second datacasting channel, GOLD2, on 13 July 2013 as a five-hour timeshift of GOLD.

Got it, thanks.

I need to clarify about what's happened to WIN's old Gold 2 channel. It's been replaced by eXtra in WIN Canberra and WIN Western Vic, but I want to check whether it's a universal change before I submit the picon updates, though it looks like it might be.

Having checked the channels in the WIN series on our TV's tuner, I scanned channel 46 on the BW, and got a new set of channels as follows.
80 = GEM
81 = WIN Sunshine Coast
82 = Extra
83 = GO Sunshine Coast
84 = Gold
85 = Coming Soon
86 = Coming Soon
88 = GO Sunshine Coast

Changing channel to 85 or 86 gives a screen showing all the WIN stations including WIN HD and Life as coming soon.

PS: It, of course, also includes channel 8 WIN QLD

Hi,
Is it appropriate to post the getservices file yet.? Or are you still sorting out the GOLDS etc.

I take updates to the getservices.xml files whenever I can get them :)

However, it's not necessary to post a new file for this fixup. I can easily put a mapping in the code that generates the picon setup that essentially says "use the eXtra picon for Gold 2", and that should cover what you have (unless you have other errors beyond having the Gold 2 picon for eXtra). I'm just trying to find out whether it's correct to do that as a global overrride. From what I found in Wikipedia (posted above), it appears that it is correct and I'll probably go ahead with it.

I'd rather hold onto the goodwill on people sending in getservices.xml updates for when WIN starts pushing Win HD and 9 Live out to the regionals.

Your 85 and 86 "Coming soon" LCNs appear to be reserving spots for the channel reshuffle that will come when Win HD and 9Life arrive. I see I have them here in Canberra now, too. Even if I did an update based on new scans, I wouldn't assign picons to "Coming soon" channels.

There's also the advent of 7flix and Seven HD coming up in the metro regions, and then the eventual push of that to Seven regional affiliates, and then whatever, if anything, Ten does in response.

in Wikipedia:

On 11 February 2016, some smart TVs began receiving notification messages advising of TEN HD which will be revived on 2 March 2016.[17] As a result, ONE will be reduced to a standard definition broadcast and relocated to channel 12 (currently occupied by a HD simulcast of ONE).

Also:

Network TEN is available in standard definition and from 2 March 2016 will recommence simulcasting in 1080i high definition. TEN's core programming is fibre fed out of ATV Melbourne to its sister stations and regional affiliates with TEN Sydney providing national news programming.

Etc. etc.

7flix starts on 76 on Sunday 28th Feb and TenHD starts on channel 13 on 2nd March (at the same time ONE switches to SD - not clear what is happening to ONE SD currently on 12)
7HD is still quoted as March to be in time for the AFL but I haven't seen a reliable date quoted yet.

In terms of picons, it's probably worth holding out for 7HD and then push them all out in one update, but as I'm not the one doing it, I'll leave that decision to others.

All existing Network Ten LCNs will remain unchanged. They are just adding 13 and making 1 a SD channel.
simoncasey wrote:7HD is still quoted as March to be in time for the AFL but I haven't seen a reliable date quoted yet.
Have you seen this officially documented anywhere? All I note are cyclic references from one rumour to another.

Prl and I are working on this at the moment. We need a better quality picon for WIN HD and the new version of the 7 HD logo *if* such a channel will exist. I think all other picons are under control.

Regards,
Ian.

The 7HD thing still seems to be a rumour started from decidertv in Nov 2015 and quoted everywhere. It is dubious as they subsequently quoted the exclusive that 7hd was going to start earlier this year and then said that was a hoax/ joke by them and wasn't everybody silly for believing them.

The only "official" news I've ever found is that the afl will be broadcast in HD from 2017 as part of the new contract and seven were looking at how they could do it before that.

In terms of logos, the only other one that appears a little bit off is the one for ten which still seems to have a yellow border, although that might get just be my eyesight.

It's going to be a bit of a mess. The Nine regional affiliates have already put in placeholder LCNs for WIN HD and 9Life, but as far as I can tell there's no "go" date yet. Ten HD is supposed to launch on 2 March, presumably only in metro areas. As IanSav said, Seven HD is said to be launching in March in time for the AFL season, but I can't find any press release about it on sevenwestmedia.com.au's press release page. 7flix is supposed to launch on 28 Feb, according to its Wikipedia entry, so that alone might be enough to do an update of the Seven logos.

Who knows how it will all fall out. When it becomes a bit clearer, I'll call for getservices.xml updates, but I don't know just how that will be ordered and whether it'll be worth doing separate updates for Ten and Seven.

7flix is a definite for the 28th as they have an epg published. Ten have confirmed ten hd for 3pm on 2nd (next Wednesday)

I agree it is worth waiting to see how it comes out and whether ten and seven release new logos for the other channels like nine did.

Now seems to be a good time to collect the getservices.xml files for the areas (metro only, I think) that will be getting broadcasts of 7flix and Ten HD in late February/early March.

All contributions welcome. I already have the update for Brisbane.

WIN Canberra are still showing their new slots for WIN HD and 9Life with channel names "Coming soon". Having sensible channel names is required for the picon mechanism, so it still seems too early to collect data for the Nine regional affiliates.

From its Wikipedia entry, it appears that 7flix will launch on the Sunshine Coast as well as the state capitals (other than Hobart). The entry for Ten HD only mentions Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, but dRdoS7's Geelong data also has Ten HD in it.

Could someone on Sunshine Coast try a rescan and post the getservices.xml file if it has either 7flix or Ten HD in it? Some of the other near-capital centres like Newcastle & the Gold Coast may also be getting one or the other of them. I think Wollongong is too "regional" to be in the rollout.
