I have 7MateHD on Channel 64 in Newcastle. Not showing in ICETV guide settings yet though.

Thanks for confirming that Newcastle is also getting 7mateHD.

I'm also still not seeing 7mateHD on the Web pages for my IceTV account.

Here is a test version of the picon setup that includes recent changes to add 7mateHD in parts of Victoria, NSW & the ACT served by Prime. It also includes all other updates to the picon setup made since the 20211010 firmware release. For the Coffs Harbour region, it will replace the 4ME picon with the one for 7mateHD; 4ME is long gone.

The install/uninstall instructions assume that you know how to copy files onto your T/U/V series PVR and how to connect to and use its command-line interface.

Making mistakes in doing the install or uninstall may affect the stability of the PVR. If you mess things up, re-install the firmware from USB.

You need to follow the uninstall steps below before doing any online firmware update!

Assuming you're doing this on a T4, copy both attached files to root (/) on the T4, then log in to the T4 and:

Code: Select all

cd /
mv picon picon.bak
mv piconlcd piconlcd.bak
tar xf maskPicons-2022-07-17.tgz
tar xf lcdPicons-2022-07-17.tgz
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you use xvf instead of xf in the tar commands it will print out the file names as they extract. There will be a lot of them, about 500 for each command. I don't usually bother.

To go back to the original picons, log into the T4 and:

Code: Select all

cd /
rm -r picon maskPicons-2022-07-17.tgz
rm -r piconlcd lcdPicons-2022-07-17.tgz
mv picon.bak picon
mv piconlcd.bak piconlcd
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you're testing on something other than a T4, leave out all the commands with lcd in them, and don't bother downloading lcdPicons-2022-07-17.tgz and copying it to the box. It doesn't matter if you do change them, but they won't have any effect - they're the picon setup for the T4's OLED graphical front panel.

Please let me know if there are any problems. If nothing's been reported in a few days, I'll push the changes to the picon repository.

Thanks in advance to everyone who tries it out!

I'm still interested in hearing whether 7mateHD has been added in any regions in Victoria (or elsewhere) that are part of the Prime network.

I have a new picon for 7twoHD that distinguishes it from 7two. I'll add that in the next update to the picons.

I'll post that picon setup here as a test version, too - it's a trivial change that should just work - I'd mainly be posting it for people who want to use the new picon setup until there's a firmware upgrade.

These are the new 7twoHD picons:

On our TV, after a full scan we are getting 7Mate HD on 064 out of Middle Brother on the NSW Mid North Coast. It looked like a simulcast of 7Mate on 063 showing the same shopping content in pretty low resolution. But unfortunately no 7Two HD here at this stage, only 7Two on 062.

I notice on certain content over the past few weeks 7Mate & 7Two have been showing the channel icon in the below attachment. Not sure if they have been doing this for a while or if it is something recent.

A full scan on the TV also picked up 9GEM HD on 085 out of Middle Brother. I don’t know how long we have had that.

The "VVV" underneath Seven's logos was added because they are covering the Commonwealth Games 2022. The "VVV" is the lower part of the Australian 2020 Commonwealth Games team logo.

I’ll check that later. The U4 is recording at the moment & I’ll have to swap the antenna fly lead from the U4 to the TV to get reception on the TV. Later today or tomorrow I’ll do a full scan on at least one of our U4s to see what it shows.

That’s interesting about the VVV. It makes sense now.

Your 7mateHD picon looks good - see attached image. And your maskPicons-2022-07-15.tgz & instructions worked well on our U4 (left out all lcd commands & lcdPicons-2022-07-15.tgz).

I found that I already had GemHD in my full bouquet list, but it wasn't in my favourites bouquet, that's why I thought it was a new service. The picon for that looks good.

I've updated the latest picon test version to include picon setup for 7mateHD in Victorian Prime areas as well as NSW and the ACT.

If you've already installed the older one date-stamped 2022-07-15, follow the instructions to uninstall it before installing the new 2022-07-17 version. If you know what the commands do, there are a couple of steps that you can leave out, but following the instructions exactly will work.

Hi PRL,
First time using Telnet but followed your instructions. No problem - 7Mate HD now showing. Still not showing in IceTV though.
Just have to remember to uninstall before the next firmware update.
No 7Two HD in Newcastle yet.

Thanks, Robert.

I don't know why the updates for 7mateHD haven't been completer on IceTV yet. The IceTV forum is probably the place to ask. MD posted there that Daniel Hall was on holidays, but was a but vague about when he'd be back.

I think that 7two HD is only a thing in Queensland, for now.

I don't think it was that vague. On 4-Jul he posted:
"... Dan will be away until the end of the week, so unless it's urgent he will catch up on his return."
4-Jul was a Monday, thus Daniel Hall should've been back on deck Mon 11-Jul.

On IceTV? The IceTV guide for the new 7mateHD channels has been there for a while. What's missing is any sign of it on the IceTV Web pages for people's accounts: in particular in My Account>Guide Settings and in the Web and app EPGs. There's also no way to set 7mate HD recordings from the Web or app interfaces.

Here is a test version of the picon setup that adds specific picons for 7two HD (it previously used the same image for both 7two and 7two HD). It also includes all other updates to the picon setup made since the 20211010 firmware release.

If you have an earlier test version of the picon setup installed, uninstall it before installing this one.

I haven't done that apart from in Canberra, because I've so far had no evidence that it's been done in other regions. It's trivial to change if it's needed.

It has been changed in Orange and since Seven West Media bought Prime Media I would think the rebrand is network wide.

Here is a test version of the picon setup that replaces Prime7, Prime7 HD and GWN 7 picons with Seven and Seven HD picons, to reflect the renaming of the channels by Prime. It also includes all other updates to the picon setup made since the 20211010 firmware release.

tar xf lcdPicons-2022-08-16.tgz
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you use xvf instead of xf in the tar commands it will print out the file names as they extract. There will be a lot of them, about 500 for each command. I don't usually bother.

To go back to the original picons, log into the T4 and:

Code: Select all

cd /
rm -r picon maskPicons-2022-08-16.tgz
rm -r piconlcd lcdPicons-2022-08-16.tgz
mv picon.bak picon
mv piconlcd.bak piconlcd
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you're testing on something other than a T4, leave out all the commands with lcd in them, and don't bother downloading lcdPicons-2022-08-16.tgz and copying it to the box.

Here is an updated scan for Orange with the change to ishoptv and the addition of 7bravo.
7bravo replaces ishoptv and is transmitting a static image which tells you where to find ishoptv which now has a new LCN.

Re: Request for updates for channel picons

Here is a test version of the picon setup that changes the old SpreeTV picons to Gecko to reflect the change in branding, and makes the changes necessary for the recent addition of 7bravo. It also includes all other updates to the picon setup made since the 20211010 firmware release.

The 7bravo changes will need a rescan to make them work in regional areas, and will need a rescan to get the channel name right everywhere. 7bravo is now broadcasting, but it's either showing no video at all (Melbourne) or a static message (Canberra). 7bravo is due to go live on 15 Jan 2023.

The 7bravo changes are done by patching the scan files I have based only on a couple of scan sets (thanks blip and IanSav). Please let me know if there are any problems with the changes.

If you have an earlier test version of the picon setup installed, uninstall it before installing this one.

Code: Select all

cd /
mv picon picon.bak
mv piconlcd piconlcd.bak
tar xf maskPicons-2022-12-03.tgz
tar xf lcdPicons-2022-12-03.tgz
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you use xvf instead of xf in the tar commands it will print out the file names as they extract. There will be a lot of them, about 500 for each command. I don't usually bother.

To go back to the original picons, log into the T4 and:

Code: Select all

cd /
rm -r picon maskPicons-2022-12-03.tgz
rm -r piconlcd lcdPicons-2022-12-03.tgz
mv picon.bak picon
mv piconlcd.bak piconlcd
Then restart the T4 GUI.

If you're testing on something other than a T4, leave out all the commands with lcd in them, and don't bother downloading lcdPicons-2022-12-03.tgz and copying it to the box. It doesn't matter if you do change them, but they won't have any effect - they're the picon setup for the T4's OLED graphical front panel.

Works fine in Rockhampton.

Another recent change: 7twoHD is back on 72 (73 is a static image telling you to go to 72). Since there's no SD channel I'm fine without the picon having HD (likewise, 7mate could drop HD from its picon, too).

How are you going to handle a new package?

I don't have any up-to-date information about LCNs (what's in FreeTV's register is more than a year out of date).

Is 7twoHD Rockhampton now on serviceref 1:0:19:942:930:1013:EEEE0000:0:0:0:? And what serviceref and name does Rockhampton LCN 73 now have? Is it still serviceref 1:0:19:943:930:1013:EEEE0000:0:0:0: (the :19: might have changed).

I just want to know the new details for LCN 73 in case Seven is about to use it for something else.

It might help clear things up for me if you could post your getservices.xml file as detailed in the first post in the topic.

Can anyone else receiving Queensland regional TV other than in Rockhampton confirm that they are also seeing the changes that Adoxa described?

I'm not sure yet. Some of the European enigma2 distributions (at least OpenATV & OpenViX) keep up-to-date Australian picon packages in their feeds.

Options are:
  • I post links to the non-Beyonwiz packages as they are updated. They can then be downloaded onto a USB stick, and when the USB stick is plugged in, the PVR will offer to install extensions, and the picon package can be installed. This method works whether the user's Beyonwiz is networked or not.
  • I modify my old get_picons.sh script so that it downloads the picon package from one of the European feeds, and installs it. The script can be run off HDD or a USB stick using File Commander. This only works if the Beyonwiz is networkes.
  • I get set up to make picon packages myself, and post theme here, where they can be downloaded ad installed from a USB stick
I don't think any of them is entirely satisfactory, but I think they're all better than expecting users to do it all by hand as is currently required for the test setups.

Attached.

I figured out how to package it and have created a feed on my website (http://adoxa.altervista.org/beyonwiz). Unfortunately, I stuffed up the version numbers, so they won't update. I'll wait for your update and then update my own.

The scan info isn't very helpful (because of Seven, not you). It has both LCNs 72 and 73 (servicerefs 1:0:19:942:930:1013:EEEE0000:0:0:0: & 1:0:19:943:930:1013:EEEE0000:0:0:0:) named as 7twoHD. I have no idea what they're up to there.

Thanks, that would mean just a once-off script for a user to run, and then the updates should be automatic from the feeds, though I'm not sure how that will play with all the errors from the fact that the official Beyonwiz feeds have dropped out of DNS.

In Perth, Seven appear to be readying to do "something" with LCN 73 (was 7mate), as it's now a static image telling us to go to LCN 74 (7mateHD, which we've had for yonks).

In the scan data Adoxa posted, the channel that used to be 7mate had the channel name "7two HD", even though it was showing a similar static sign and the real 7two HD was elsewhere. So what channel name has Seven given LCN 73 in Perth?

I hadn't noticed that the old 7mate in Perth hadn't been rebadget with the 7twoHD picon. I'll fix up Perth the same way that I'm fixing up the Qld regionals.

Hi, Ian. Thanks, yes, I know. I have new scan data for Melbourne thanks to IanSav. My changes to the picon setup for 7two/7two HD for regional Queensland do not affect the picon setup for Seven in east coast metro areas.
