Emptying trash.

Post by Swanny » Mon Apr 26, 2021 17:43

I have looked through the board and have found some references to erasing the contents of trash.
I have a T4, that is updated to the latest system.
I just want to have some simple way to get rid of the contents that are in the trash.
Most of the discussions I don’t understand or were specific to programming.
I would be so grateful for some simple steps to do this. The HD is dangerously full. I have 80GB to remove.

The simplest way I think is to select the trash icon in the media player screen and press RED. Answer YES to delete all.

Hi Swanny

First question is what do you mean by the latest system? There are several versions of firmware including offical releases and beta releases. We really need a version number for that to make sense.

That aside, as Paul has said, if you are in the media screen all you have to do is highlight the trash folder and press the red button. It will empty trash. It might not be instaneous depending on the number of folders, etc in there.

Longer term, have a look at your settings in the media player. You alter the number of days trash is left before it is removed.
Cheers

Also remember that if your disk drive space stops below a configurable threshold, the Wiz will start deleting the oldest recordings from the trash by itself.

Also note that there can be multiple ".Trash" folders on the hard drive, I have three -
/media/hdd/screenshots/.Trash
/media/hdd/movie/.Trash
/media/hdd/.Trash

That's strange. How did it get created? And does it ever get anything put in it?

No idea how it got created, and I'm not sure if anything ever got put into it. When you last tested it it remained empty for you.
