Series2Folder
Series2Folder
What am I doing wrong? I have tried to install the series2folder plugin onto my t2 using 4 different USBs to no avail and each time it comes up with a message saying "no displayable files on this medium found!", when there is clearly something on the USB when plugging the USB into a computer. Pleeeease help me as it is very frustrating not knowing what I am doing wrong. I have tried doing this using the version 1.8.
Re: Series2Folder
Why 1.8, when 1.9 is available?terry wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 14:07What am I doing wrong? Did you remember to unzip the file onto the USB stick? You should have a .ipk file in the root folder.
Is the USB stick formatted as FAT32 or NTFS? (not exFAT)
Have you tried opening up the "Files / sources" entry in the main menu and navigating to the USB stick, then clicking on the .ipk file there? That will also cause the plugin to be installed.

Re: Series2Folder
Did you put the .ipk file in the top level directory on the USB stick? .ipk package files will only be found automatically if they're on the top level folder on the USB stick. If the Series2Folder .ipk file not in the top level, try moving it there and try again.
It shouldn't matter if there are other files on the USB stick (I keep all the .ipk files I use and all my current USB installers on one USB stick).
If that doesn't help:
Can you look at the contents of the USB drive in FileCommander (MENU>Sources / Files)? How is the USB formatted? What firmware version are you running on the T2 (MENU>Information>About>Revision?

I missed that.
Terry: 1.9 has some useful improvements over 1.8 (thanks to an idea and a code suggestion from adoxa).

Re: Series2Folder
I am now having trouble assigning the blue button on the remote control to series2folder.
Re: Series2Folder
Have you restarted your Wiz after installing the plugin? (did you end up installing version 1.9?)
What trouble are you having? You'll need to tell us where you are getting stuck.
Do you see the series2folder options in the popup menu when you press the MENU button? (you will have to highlight a recording for the options to be visible).
Personally I find that allowing series2folder to run automatically in the background is much easier than assigning a button to manually run it on demand, though your usage patterns might be vastly different to mine.

How do you set the series2folder to run automatically in the background? Please.
Re: Series2Folder
See the 6th bullet point in the instructions.
If you select the "Series to folder..." option, you can access the Series2folder settings.
From here you can enable the plugin to run in the background.
This will essentially scan the movie folder whenever a recording finishes, and then move any new series that it detects into the correct folders for you.

Re: Series2Folder
From live TV, MEDIA, MENU>Series to Folder...>Configure move series to folder: version is in the window header
In that same config screen, switch on "Allow Series to Folder to run in the background". You may want to adjust the "Series to Folder notifications" setting that appears when you enable background operation, and also adjust the Automatically create folders setting.
You might also want to enable Put movies into folder.
More information about the settings in the first post in this topic.
Have you been able you assign the BLUE button to running Series to folder? Though personally, I just let it run in the background.

Are you positive that you moved the highlight onto a recording before pressing MENU?

In the media selection menu, the Series2Folder entries only show if the highlight is on a file or recording. It won't show if the highlight is on a directory.

I'm not home to have a look, but shouldn't a successful install say something like "successfully installed xyz on root"? The screenshot doesn't show that, nor that it's already installed, nor any errors. It's like it did nothing.

Re: Series2Folder
Okay, so it never installed, as I thought.
Does any other plugin install?
Try installing adoxa's CurrentTimers plugin as a test.
See viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12144&start=100#p162760 - (but the latest 0.8.4 version is linked much further down the page).

Re: Series2Folder
Those photos seem out of order. It looks like the order in the post is step 2, step 1, step 3.
Anyway, the step 3 photo isn't showing what I see when I install Series2Folder 1.10 using the same method. I see:
BTW, if your V2 is networked you can capture screenshots in your computer's browser using Open Webif, the browser interface to the Beyonwizes. Just enter beyonwizv2 as the address of your V2 in the address entry bar of your browser, then click on Capture Screenshot in the left-hand bar of the Open Webif screen. Then save the image from your browser and attach it to your post.

Re: Series2Folder
OK, I've just realised what the third image (and last step) in the series of three images that terry posted are showing: it's what you see when you press the GREEN Details in the Installing Plugin screen after the installation has run.
The output from opkg for the installation should appear between the lines of dashes, and for a correct install, the text there should be something like:
Instead, in terry's image, there's nothing.
Also, looking at terry's image of the FileCommander main screen, the top level of /media/usb contains a System Volume Information folder. Does that mean that the HDD mounted on /dev/hdd is formatted as NTFS?
Does the installation work any better if the installer is instead on a USB stick that's formatted as FAT rather than NTFS? It's a very long shot, but it may be worth a try.
Also, knowing what firmware version we're dealing with (on both the V2 where the installation fails, as Grumpy_Geoff suggests, and on the T2, U4 and T4 where it succeeds) would be helpful.
