Standby Modes DEEP Standby and Normal Standby

Can someone please explain the difference Between DEEP Standby and Ordinary Standby om a U4
how do i place the Machine in Deep Standby Please Regards Dazzla_1

Deep standby (or shutdown) is as much as possible powered down. All models in the T/U/V series advertise < 1W power consumption in deep standby. A full startup is needed from deep standby. It's similar to standby on the old DP series.

Standby is almost everything running except A/V output. Timeshift is stopped, so provided HDD idle spindown is enabled, the HDD will spin down when recordings aren't being made and debug logging isn't enabled and writing to the HDD.

Power use in standby isn't much less than when fully running, but startup to fully on is almost instant.

Recordings can still be made from deep standby/shutdown. The PVR will power up to standby mode to make the recording, and then go back to deep standby.

I'm not sure what the link in your post is intended to point to.

All the power management options on all T/U/V models are the same.

With the default settings for Action on short POWER and Action on long POWER in MENU>Setup>System>Button settings, long POWER, then select Shutdown.

If you change the setting for Action on short POWER to Immediate shutdown, then short POWER will go to shutdown. Long POWER, select Shutdown will still go to shutdown.

If there is currently a recording being made, using Long POWER, Shutdown will warn that recordings are being made and ask "Really shutdown now?". If you answer "yes", it will stop the recordings and shut down immediately. That's not usually what people want.

If you change the Action on short POWER to Immediate shutdown, and you short press POWER when a recording is being made, it will go to standby to complete the recording and when all recordings have completed, and none are about to start, it will go to shutdown/deep standby.

The front panel button on the PVRs can only send short POWER.

Sorry Peter I was explaining to MrQuade yesterday that I have an issue still with sound stopping when I revert to BWiz from TV and the only way I can get out of it was to switch off the "Red Button" on the Back and Sometimes when turn it back on I have sound so he rightly reinforced not to do that in future and to use "Deep Standby" until I can fix it ?

So that's my Question Peter how do I enter into Deep Shut/Down Thanks Dazzla_1

If you just want to put the Wiz into deep standby, you can do that by pressing and holding the power button.
That will bring up the power menu. You can select the correct option from there.
You can also access the same power menu from the main menu:
MENU->Power.

If you want your remote control power button to always put the Wiz into deep standby instead of normal standby, then you can customise the POWER button behaviour via:
MENU->Setup->System->Button settings->Action on short POWER

Sorry if this isn't the place for this question. I am quite clear about the standby levels, but am having trouble putting my T2 into deep standby after it has finished recording and I have turned the TV off. I have told the timer to go into deep standby when finished, but when I turn on the TV again, hours/days later there is a message asking if I really want to close down. The HELP tells me that the PVR will "do just that" but it doesn't. Nor will it if I set a sleep timer - a message again. Is it because I have future timers set?
This is my first question on my T2. I hope I am following protocols OK. Thanks to the answerer in advance.

No, unless the future timer is due to start within 15 mins.

Either leave the T2 showing live TV or better still put the T2 to standby, the timer's 'After event' action will then shut down the T2 to deep standby.
Don't leave it showing a menu or pop up of any sort.

It might also show that if you've left the V2 in timeshift mode, and you have left the V2 in the default configuration state of asking (via popup) what you want it to do when terminating timeshift mode (without pressing the STOP button)?
