VOB file problems after "resume playback"

Post by elysian » Tue Nov 10, 2009 12:34

Since the firmware .301 upgrade I'm getting playback problems with VOB files when using the "resume playback from last position" feature on the P1.

I'm referring to individual VOB files - TV episodes ripped from DVD. I rarely had a problem until the current .301 firmware.

Upon resumption of playback, the file goes into a kind of loop - it plays 10 seconds or so from the correct point but then loops the same sequence infinitely. Playback can be stopped during this bizarre looping, but the only way to fix the problem is by restarting the file from the beginning.

Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround? Would appreciate any insight.

This is one area that a lot of improvements were added in the subsequent beta's from your version (well, for full DVD structure playback... are these just VOB files you are talking about, or a full/trimmed/filtered DVD rip?)

No, it's individual VOB files - TV episodes ripped from DVD disc.

Do you have the IFO etc bits you can grab also? Get those, you will get a nice DVD menu, and perhaps more playable & usable (audio track selection, subtitle selection etc). VOB files by themselves are poorly indexed (I think) making resume play etc a tad more difficult.

Get hold of VSO ConvertXtoDVD and use the minimalist menu if you don't like menu's. There is another template for multi episode TV series.
