Worth Repairing a DP-P1?

Post by Barboots » Sat Nov 16, 2019 15:36

I'm looking at the DP-P1 I've just retired, and am wondering what to do with it. I could flog it "as is" on Gumtree, but it's not quite working 100% and I doubt I'd get any takers if I stated that.

So do I get it fixed up? Wouldn't the HD problems still be an issue, meaning I could never really say "it's a good thing"?

Cheers, Steve

Personally, I doubt it's a good idea to spend money fixing it. Warkus is cheap but even if he were to overhaul it, I can't see you getting much more than $200-300 for it on a good day in working condition.

There's no easy way to know if it would fetch more than the second hand value of the HDD. The net proceeds would probably be less than $100, meaning a lot of effort for a modest return at best.

Overall, high risk low return. Not a good bet. "As is" is probably your better choice. Or just scrap it.

Warkus is likely to want it to use for spares, working or not.

Particularly as parts for the DP series continue to dry up and people want them repaired.

Ian.

Yes I'd certainly offer it to Mark before discarding it, and that seems like how it will go.
