Post by mturnbull » Thu Apr 18, 2019 21:02

Hi all, I have an old DP-S1 and missed the latest firmware update, does anyone have a link to it or a copy of the firmware?
Thanks.

Warkus at Decisive Computer Solutions has a modified firmware after the last official version that updated the TV channel decoders but it comes at a significant cost to S1 features that will cease to work. Warkus warned me as follows (paraphrasing):
The following items WILL STOP WORKING ON YOUR S1 UNIT...
DVD Drive - it will stop working altogether.
WIFI - it will stop working altogether.
DTS Audio - This was primarily used for DVD disk playback and isn't really used in TV broadcasts much, rarely if ever anyway but regardless it will stop working.
.VOB File & .ISO media file playback will also stop working - this is only relevant if you have ever tried to play these video formats, if you haven't then don't worry.

The first 3 of these features are specific to the S1 units only and were not found on any of the other models. The P1, Lite & P2 have never had these features. The removal of these features occurs because the modified P1 firmware used for this firmware fix does not have drivers in it to support these devices and there is no S1 equivalent firmware available to fix the TV channels issue.

The unit will work perfectly after update - as a P1 - rather than an S1.
...

You will now essentially have a P1 unit inside of an S1 casing.

Still happy to proceed - Then update.

If you are not happy to loose these features - PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS FIRMWARE.

Once updated... Boot and go straight into menu->system->initialize Then factory reset the unit completely.

You will not loose recordings doing this. Then you can re-scan channels and set it back up to the way you like.

Then all the channels will work perfectly after that.
I never installed it in the end: I bought a later model unit instead, and another, and another, and another, and another...

Became an addiction in the end to keep upgrading!

I'm able to make the latest official firmware for the DP-S1 (01.05.350) available from my Dropbox if you have an earlier version and just want the latest official version.

Firmware: DPS1_Firmware_30Nov2010_ver_01.05.350.wrp
Release notes: Firmware Release Note[beta] -DP-XX-01.05.350 - 20101130.doc

The "beta" release note is also for what was actually in the official release.

The DVD was working within last year and I have firmware 1.05.350?
Just stopped working "no disc inserted? appears now?
I can open and close tray to load DVD.... is this different to above post of completely not working?

I don't think the firmware had been updated recently within the year?

I found a USB with all previous updates to 2010... the previous one to this latest update.... can you go backwards on firmware to get the DVD working again?

When did they latest firmware get released?
Not sure if I downloaded it via WiFi as aerial not attached?

To get DVD back do you recommend 1.05.334 or 1.05320 to go back to?

Here is a link to previous firmwares:
http://beyonwiz.com.au/media/downloads/

Seems the HDD is not functioning anymore?
Will not let me check HDD or rewind live tv or record?
Is this a firmware or hardware issue?

Paul's post refers to the P1 latest firmware being used on S1 not the S1 latest firmware causing issues!
