No picture with Lidic

Post by lujash » Tue Jun 29, 2010 16:38

Hi, I am new to all this technology but am still trying to get it all happening even though it is doing my head in.! I have got a dp-lite and a lidic and want to run foxtel through it so I can record it as well. I have got sound but no picture when on the Lidic channels.?? Can anyone help me please?? I have the lidic usb to the bw and have the bw hdmi to the tv. I have foxtel (red, white, yellow )plugged into the lidic and I have the antenna cable running from the wall to the bw and then rf loop cable running from bw to the tv. Am i doing it all wrong?? HELP! :?

set "decode AAC" in the audio passthrough settings, and enable analog output (sounds silly, but it can help in some quirky HDMI situations)

If you are only using the TV for audio, consider going to 2 channel mode rather than passthru.

Hi thanks for your reply - I tried what you said but no change in getting picture. The sound is better in passthrough so left it like that.
Could I have it hooked up wrong? Or could my foxtel box be stopping the picture from working??

oh bummer, I misread your message completely. Ok, you need to set your Foxtel to composite output, and the lidic to composite input.

Might help if the title is changed from No sound to No picture! That way people know whato expect.

lujash, you can edit your first post to fix that.
Cheers

Ok, I am sorry but I am really having a dumb moment... Could you please explain exactly what cables I need to hook up and where they go... At the moment I have the foxtel (Red,white and yellow) going straight into the lidic... THe lidic is usb'd up to the bw and the bw is HDMI'd into the tv. There are 3 places on the lidic for cables... does it matter where I put the foxtel? I am sorry to sound so dumb about this and am eternally grateful for all and any help I get!

Thanks! :)

Hi Lujash,

Check the LiDiC manual or look very carefully at the back of the LiDiC. There are two input areas for channels 950 and 951 respectively and 1 passthrough output area. It would probably be easier if you connect Foxtel to input #1. On the Beyonwiz remember to configure the LiDiC. Set the LiDiC to Enable, Display as required, Input 1 to Composite and Video Type to PAL.

Ensure that the Foxtel box has been programmed to output a signal on its composite terminals (the red, white and yellow terminals).

Selecting channel 950 on the Beyonwiz should give you the feed from the Foxtel box.

Regards,
Ian.

Ok....success! thankyou so much.. I had configured the lidic on pal etc before but i have somehow got it working... the only thing is it is an ordinary picture... is this because it is the composite cables?? is the s-video a better picture. I will try and see if it records now! thanks sooooo much for being so patient with me!
I don't really know how to check if the foxtel box has been configured? anyway it is working but the problem is the very ordinary picture.. any suggestions??

Thankyou :D

composite is a pretty lousy connection method. Svideo is leaps and bounds better (almost as good as component).

Remember you will need to alter the lidic settings to svideo, and the Foxtel video output settings to svideo (also sometimes called Y/C). The Wiz came with a (pretty poor) svideo cable I think.

Hi,

I wouldn't go as far as to say that a S-Video signal is almost as good as a component signal but it is significantly better than a composite signal.

Regards,
Ian.
