Where's the sound gone?

Post by nutwood » Sun Aug 25, 2013 20:01

Bit of a funny one. We've just purchased a Samsung smart TV. Connected it up to the DP-S1 via HDMI. Used TV Out to get the right setting. All good.
Today, no signal from the DP-S1. TV Out got it back again but the sound volume has gone. There's still some sound there but not much.
Dragged the old mono TV back in and connected up via composite (yellow, red and white); basic AV settings. Because it's mono it's really "Yellow/White" or "Yellow/Red". This showed that "Red" had no sound whilst "White" had greately reduced sound.
My old fashioned electronics training tells me that the DP-S1 has blown an audio output stage but I'm highly suspicious. I'm thinking some setting has altered somewhere and if I hunt about I might find it.
Two questions; Am I correct in my setting surmise and if I am, what caused things to change?

Hi Nutwood,

Have you read the Recommended Audio Settings... FAQ?

Have you inadvertently reduced or muted the volume via the Beyonwiz remote?

Hi Ian,

Yes, I started there. That's why I dragged the old TV back in, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything in the "Setup" area.
Interestingly, it seems to have fixed itself overnight. I just turned it on to double check the volume settings and it's working fine. Both channels ( L & R) are now operating.
Weird. Pesonally, I think it's attention seeking because we got a new TV!
