Sony Software update has lost sound from U4

Software update last night for my XR-55X90J has lost sound from my Beyonwiz U4 - tried different ports and devices on those ports, only the Beyonwiz looses sound.

Also been through the Sony's sound & HDMI settings (lots) without luck and checked the Beyonwiz's settings as well.

"Cold" boot of the Sony also done.

Do get sound when streaming from the U4 to the pc.

BW is on 20211010 fw.

It sounds like the HDMI setting for the HDMI input the U4 is connected to may have changed to the default setting with the Sony firmware update.

I remember when I first set up our Sony TV, I had to change the HDMI input setting to get audio from my U4. This also happened when we were on holidays & I connected our T2 to a TV’s HDMI input, in particular an LG TV. Without doing this I just got video without audio.

I’m away from home at the moment so I can’t tell what the setting was called on the Sony, but it was something like deselecting the HD setting (or it could be enhanced audio) for that particular HDMI input.

I find the Sony menu system isn’t very user friendly, & some settings aren’t where I expect them to be, so it could take a while to find that setting.

Having tried numerous things: Factory reset on the Sony (no change), more settings play (no change), downgrade the software (not recognized), connect BW to another tv via another HDMI cable (Success!), I then tried the new cable to the Sony (worked!), so on a whim I tried the orig cable again and that worked!

My best guess is that the connection from the BW needed to re-seated, and it was just co-incidence that this happened when the new software came along.
