This is for a bit of fun only however it is true!

My Dad is 85 years of age. He called me the other day to tell me that his PVR is not working. It's a Humax HDR 3000T. I thought ok it will be like a Beyonwiz inside, I'll just take the top off and check the capacitors out or maybe the hard drive. They think they are smart with the hidden tabs to get the thing apart but I'm smarter than that. Anyway I got the top off and found this.
(see attached photos). There is not a lot inside one of those things. (By the way I'm no technician however I've replaced many capacitors in my T3 and T4 over the years myself).
The picture of the Wiz is only the power board. These other things are cheaply built and obviously not built to last.

What is the point you are trying to make?

The Humax looks perfectly fine to me, it's just a more modern board design when compared to legacy devices like the DP-series, T3 or T4. Probably a lot more power efficient too, which means it can use an external PSU and onboard DC-DC conversion like all modern Beyonwiz models.

I assume that the Humax had an external power brick? Did you check that was still outputting the right voltage?
