A couple of problems I am seeing is a thread showing unread posts when there aren't any, and LFs in CODE blocks when posting are not respected, both of which are pretty darned annoying.

How did Curtisnar get back in? I'm sure I banned him yesterday morning. Anyway, I banned him again last night.
So did I, which I would have thought was impossible. I did notice the joining date was last night so he clearly rejoined after being banned the first time.

That was mentioned in this topic back here.

Discussion of that problem started in this topic back here. The discussion includes a workaround, and my complaint that the workaround only helps those "in the know", so even if you install the workaround in your browser, it only works for you and the others who've done it. Everyone else sees code blocks as a mess.

It would have also been nice if you hadn't deleted your keyboard coloured buttons post while I was preparing a comprehensive reply. Fortunately I've saved the text of my reply if you want to repost the question. ;)

Thanks, I realise, but didn't wish to simply do a "me too" post. :)

I also don't wish to install a workaround, even if temporary, to fix a basic function that shouldn't have broken.

It would have also been nice if you hadn't deleted your keyboard coloured buttons post while I was preparing a comprehensive reply. Fortunately I've saved the text of my reply if you want to repost the question. ;)

Thanks anyway, but the reason for the delete is that it suddenly "started working" as expected again. I don't know why, I didn't do anything different as far as I am aware and haven't investigated further, so the query became academic at that point.

I'm using an iPad3 with the safari browser. I'm finding the format has changed in that the number of pages of posts for a particular subject are partly over written by lengthy descriptions of the post and the poster.

I have included an attachment showing the problem I'm experiencing. I have deliberately only copied the right hand side of the page to ensure that the problem is caught in the screen shot.

I don't have an iPad to confirm it on. The display of long titles like that works just fine on the default browser on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Android phone, and also on OS X Firefox if I make the application window narrow.

Had you rebooted or done a GUI restart in the meantime? That was one of the suggestions in my post :) keymap.xml is only read when enigma2 starts up - and "GUI Restart" means "restart enigma2".

Another part of the unposted post that may be useful is:

The key definitions you list are:
F9 -> red
F10 -> yellow
F11 -> green
F12 -> blue

I'd find it more logical to use:
F9 -> red
F10 -> green
F11 -> yellow
F12 ->blue
to follow the button order on the remote.

Also, if I was using the Beyonwiz-supplied wireless keyboard, I'd use:
F7 -> red
F8 -> green
F9 -> yellow
F10 ->blue
because on that keyboard F11 and F12 are Fn+F9 and Fn+F10 respectively, and pressing the Fn button also sends KEY_PC key events.

I always deep-standby my T4 when not in use. I had booted it as usual, gone to the media player, plugged in the USB keyboard and tried to rename several files. Each time I pressed the corresponding (or any of F9-F12) key, the invalid key press icon appeared. Yet the keyboard's media keys were working fine.

After moving around and doing other things in the GUI, I later went back to the media player, long-pressed F9 (Red) to rename a file, having forgotten it wasn't working earlier, and hey presto, F9-F12 were working.

I have played around with various scenarios to try reproduce this, without success. It's not really worth the bother to investigate further as it's still working as expected.

I'd find it more logical to use:
F9 -> red
F10 -> green
F11 -> yellow
F12 ->blue
to follow the button order on the remote.

Forget what I wrote, this is how I have it too, far more logical.

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that the "Jump to" button, just below the page counter, on the bottom right of the screen when clicked shows a list of forum topics that have *way* too much white spacing?

If others can confirm the issue then can this also be added to the fix list.

Regards,
Ian.

This is how it looks in OS X Firefox 53.0.2:
Screen Shot 2017-05-09 at 16.35.22.png
Screen Shot 2017-05-09 at 16.35.22.png (37.92 KiB) Viewed 13042 times
Its row heights are probably a bit too much, perhaps determined by the height of the headings, which I think are OK. The rest have a bit more space than is needed, but I wouldn't say way too much.

I guess the heights are the same for all rows, and they could be trimmed a bit.

It's possible, though, that it looks OK with other fonts, and worse with yet others.

One thing that could also be adjusted is that on the default browser on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (Android 5.0.1), when I tap on Login, the top of the device screen is between the Username and Password entries on the login/register page, which means that I have to scroll up to enter my username. It should position the top of the device screen at the top of the frame of the Login box, just above the Login heading.

Perhaps there's an anchor in the wrong place or something.

Hi,

This is what the "Jump to" menu looks like on my Windows XP machine when using Chrome:

The same area of the screen looks correct on Chrome under Windows 10.

Geez, that's a bit rough. Support for Chrome on XP was only dropped about a year ago! I wouldn't have expected a simple forum page to have advanced far enough to break it already.

I don't think it's too wide if I scroll down to the "Accessories (USB Tuner, Keyboards, Wifi Dongles)" entry (which is 48 bytes long).

I think IanSav is referring to row height being too big on Win XP Chrome, not the column width being too big.

Another item to add to the list of broken things:

Previously, the "Sucuri firewall" would give fairly verbose error messages when it blocked posts. The new implementation is just returning a generic web server "403 forbiden" page, without any clues. It seems that the rules are just as idiotic as they were before. Just including the word curl in a post results in the 403 error.

Yes, I've been complaining about that for a while (usually in the context of where I was trying to post bad, bad things like lines starting with the word "copy").

It's bizarrely strange what it whinges about:

rm -rf /

is apparently OK to have in a post...

Some of the silly restrictions on searches seem to still be in place:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: 403.
I came across this while trying to search for "403 forbidden".

OK: so who's going overboard with posting the text "403"? It must be someone!

And why is 403 "too common", when a search for "recording" returns 17209 hits? Surely "recording" is pretty common in that case?

It appears that in phpbb-speak "too common" actually means "has fewer than three characters" as well as meanings that perhaps might be more usual. So "EPG" is too common, and it would be fairly common, but probably not much more so than "recording". But the random string "ftz" is also "too common"! Searching for "ftzx", though, is apparently OK (and doesn't return any matches).

What's wrong with using a stop lists, instead of arbitrary length rules, to avoid indexing words like "and" and "the"?

On the other hand, longer words that might be thought to go in a stop list just just handled strangely:

It appears that banning a user doesn't log them out or prevent them posting if still logged in.

Though Emilytoode was banned earlier on, she(?) still shows up as active on the forum and has continued posting. I think that may have been how Curtisnar kept posting after being banned.

Surely, when the banhammer is wielded, the user should be forcibly logged out if still logged in? Is it possible to configure the forum to do this?

Can an admin give Emilytoode's current login the boot? I can't find any way I can do it as a moderator.

Anyone know why we suddenly seem to be getting a plague of these undesirables?

Hi,

Are any other users finding that threads they have read keep showing up as having unread posts? When you click to jump to the unread posts you are taken to the first post on the first page of the thread.

To clear the marker I have to specifically mark the thread as read.

(This often happens when SPAM posts are deleted but it also happens on normal posts.)

Ian.

Since I put dummy posts in a couple of topics that had had spam deleted from them and had been messing up the "new posts" pointers for those topics, I haven't seen any misbehaving new posts pointers.

If you us "back" in the browser and then click on a new post link that has actually been read, that will take you to the start of the topic (oddly, not te end). I fix that by doing a refresh in the browser.

IanB, was that a result of you posting and then deleting it yourself?

Formatting of [code] blocks appears to be fixed.

I just tried disabling the fix-code-use-browser-fonts user style, and the code blocks I looked at are a mess. Firefox 53.0.3.

Hi,

It doesn't look fixed in the test I just tried. (Chrome on Windows XP.)

Regards,
Ian.

Looks fine to me.

Make sure you clear your browser cache and then shift+reload the page. Your browser is probably caching the old stylesheet.

Yep, that did it for me. I'd only done a shift+reload, not a cache clear.

Hi PeterU,

For some reason I needed to force reload the page a few times before the style sheet was correctly updated. (I previously only performed a single reload.)

The code blocks now look correct.

Thank you.

Regards,
Ian.

Not sure what causes that. Could be web server setting, could be the browser. Given the past experiences, I'd be inclined to blame the brain dead Sucuri proxy first. :roll:

For those who can look at these things,

It may “be just me”, but the BB quick link to “active topics”, my usual entry point appears to be stuck. The most recent entry that I see is dated January 20.

The most recent one I see is Jan 21. But it looks broken, though.

My experience is that's because 'Active Topics' doesn't usually show posts in 'General Discussion'. nor 'Feedback and Suggestions' (and possibly others).
