H1 not seeing P2 on network

Post by modelit » Mon Jan 13, 2014 15:11

I have a H1 in my Theatre room that is not seeing my P2 on the network.
It did see the P2 on the network previously, I did an Initialise Factory Settings as I was having problems seeing my ReadyNas NV+, now I can see my NAS and PC's but cannot see the P2.

I have scanned many times, inputted the IP address of the P2 in manually but it will not accept it.

I have another H1 in my bedroom which can see the P2 and play files.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can rectify this problem ?

Regards
Sean

Hi Sean,

Welcome!

Have you enabled the WizPNP client in the Beyonwiz UI? ( SETUP > Network > WizPNP > Client > Enable )

Regards,
Ian.

Hi Sean,

Does the Netgear have any options that control UDP broadcasts? Ensure that all traffic is permitted between all LAN ports (if such options exist).

Regards,
Ian.

WizPnP needs UDP multicast, rather than broadcast.

Hi Ian

Had a look thru my Netgear DGND3700v2 router and was unable to find any switches to enable UDP Broadcasts, also did a search on the web but nothing turned up.

Any other ideas ? thanks again

Hi Sean,

Do you have a plain (dumb) switch that you can use to create a simplified network of just the PC and the Beyonwiz? It would be good to simplify everything and see if we can get things working.

Ian.

Hi, Sean. Is UPnP enabled on the router in Advanced > Advanced Setup >
UPnP?

Hi Sean,

If you can't borrow a switch then do you have a cross-over network cable? If so, hook the Beyonwiz up to the PC directly with the cable and set up compatible fixed IP addresses on both devices and then see if they can communicate properly with each other.

We really need to see some tests and test results to try and help you with this issue. Do you have any network savvy family or friends that can help you diagnose the problem?

Regards,
Ian.

Re: H1 not seeing P2 on network

Hi Sean,

How did you get on with the Beyonwiz visibility on your network?
Can your H1 now see your P2?
If so, how did you fix it?

I was wondering what firmware you are running on your DP-H1
(I have just recently purchased one of these units, and it was shipped with 1.03.081, which appears to be many years old.
I was curious as to which you were running, and whether you would recommend it.. ie, do the pro's for updating outweigh the con's it screws up

Thanks in advance

I am running the latest Filmware available, I am still having a problem with one of my H1's not seeing the P2. the other P2 sees my P2 no problems.
I have a tech coming tomorrow to see if he can find a solution as it is beyond me how to fix

There is a known problem with WizPnP that if the WizPnP index file is bigger than 64kB, the client won't talk to the server. This is can be a cause of "my BW used to see my other BW but now it doesn't".

The size of the index file depends mostly on the number of recordings (not their sizes). You can check the size of the index file by putting http://ip.of.my.bw:49152/index.txt into the address bar on your Web browser on a PC (or Mac or whatever). Replace with the actual IP address of your Beyonwiz.

Once the index file has been loaded into the browser, get the page information (Control-I in Windows Firefox, for example), and that should tell you the size of the index file. If it's less than 64kB, this isn't the cause of the problem.

I have had a Tech look at the problem today, ended up being a dodgy internet cable - all fixed and running

I had this problem a while back when I first upgraded to firmware version 350. I found my H1 would only stream from my P1 or vice versa if both units had version 349.
