H1 - WizPNP - firmware v301 - Something's not quite right

Post by calakas » Sun Jun 21, 2009 15:01

Hi All,

I've just bought a DP-H1 for the bedroom. We've had an S1 for about 18 months. Both are networked and can reliably play files from a Maxtor network drive. Both can access WizTV perfectly.

After a lot of experimentation and firmware swapping, I cannot get the H1 to see the S1 through WizPNP with the latest firmware loaded on the H1, v301. The primary reason I bought the H1 was so that when my son and I watch one recorded free to air show on the S1 in the lounge, my wife and daughter can go the bedroom and watch another recorded free to air show at the same time.

These are the firmware scenarios:
v301 on both - H1 does not see S1 in the Network list.

v301 on S1 & v280 on H1 - H1 does see the S1, but can only play shows recorded when the S1 had v280 loaded.

v280 on both - H1 can still see S1, but now neither machine can play shows recorded after v301 was loaded onto the S1.

I am now going through the tedious routine of loading v301 on to the S1 to watch the remaining shows that were recorded using that version. However, I reload v280 on the S1 to record all new shows. We only have three v301 shows left to watch, so I will soon remain permanently on v280.

I haven't yet tried using v301 on the H1 with v280 on the S1. I'll do that soon and let you know the results.

Otherwise, I love the Beyonwiz system.

Hi Calakas,

Welcome!

This is a known issue for 01.05.301. The DP-H1 will not enable the WizPNP client if there is no recording device defined. The quick work around is to find a spare USB stick or hard drive and define it as a recording device. When you restart the DP-H1, under 01.05.301, with the recording drive attached and enabled the WizPNP client should start properly.

This issue has been fixed, and will be available in the next firmware update.

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks for your prompt reply Ian.

I have to admit that I would never have guessed that as a workaround.

I was planning to add an external drive to the H1, but I wanted to sort this problem out first.

I'll set up an external drive shortly and give it a whirl with v301.

I'll report the results later; problems or not.

Regards,
Craig

No problems.

No need to guess. This is already documented as bug 1(c) in the 01.05.301 Bug List and Wizh List - DP-H1 specific. The workaround is also documented there.

Regards,
Ian.
