Now need to login twice on the forum.

Post by sub3R » Wed Nov 14, 2018 18:30

Does anyone have any idea why I would now need to login twice (both Username & Password twice) on this forum to quote posts? Also sometimes the same when just accessing the beta sub-forum. I've noticed this for a few weeks now.

Is it my system or has there been some forum changes made? I don’t have any problems like this at other sites or forums.

I had to update my login to https:// to get back to auto login using Chrome.

Thanks Paul, so far that seems to have been the fix.

I'm getting this problem again & I've been using; https://beyonwiz.com.au/forum/ to access the website.

The “The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again” message seems to happen fairly regularly.

Using Firefox 67.0.4 64bit on Win10 Pro 64bit 1809.

Any clues anyone?

I had the invalid form problem with Chrome on Linux, but Firefox was ok.

Both are fine from my Windows machine.

Thanks. It could be this laptop then which isn’t my main laptop.

My main Win10 Home 64 laptop suffered from some very bad corruption & the HDD has that many bad sectors plus other problems I’m going to do a new install on a new HDD.

This will happen if you start a post (or a reply) and don't preview (or submit) the form for a while.

You may want to logout of the forums and clear all the cookies you have for "*.beyonwiz.com.au", then login again.

IIRC just submitting again will work.

I don't get any message about invalid forms, but I do find that I need to login twice when using Chrome on my work computer. For a long while there I couldn't login at all using Firefox, but I managed to login successfully last night so I assume that problem has been fixed.

In my case at least it doesn't. Half a dozen attempts with the same result (to make sure I hadn't Trevor'd the password).

I haven't tried a cookie cleanup yet....it was low on my list of to-dos, but will give it a go when I get a chance.

I think it has done it then. My user pattern may be different to other users; I usually don’t log-in to read posts, I only log-in if I want to post or access the T/U series Public Beta forum.

I found the error message appears randomly if I have been reading posts then decide to log-in to post something. Running CCleaner to clear cookies etc. seemed to have fixed that at this stage - thanks for that suggestion.

The other time I get the error message is when I have been reading posts without logging in & then click on the T/U series Public Beta forum which gives the option to log-in. If I then log-in at that option I get the “The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again” message. Logging in again allows access. This still happens with both Firefox & IE 11 after clearing cookies. It looks like I need to get out of this particular habit.

Interesting about other user experiences. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm almost always logged in when I read posts. Some of the forums I most want to read are only accessible when I'm logged in (Public Beta and all the "Beta Testers Only" forums).

I think that is why I’m getting caught (logging in after reading posts). I never have this problem on other various forums I use, but perhaps they aren’t as secure.

I just got bit by the example that peteru previously gave & just then when I tried to log-in to post this.

You also need to make sure that you always use the https: protocol when using the forums. One stray bookmark that only has http: will stuff things up. Basically any transition between the two protocols is treated like a new session.

Yes, understand that. I’ve been using https:// for quite some time now. Although when I started using this particular laptop a couple of weeks ago because of the failure of my main laptop, the bookmark for beyonwiz website was http:// which I promptly changed to https://.
