A new bizarre restriction on what I can post

Post by prl » Fri Sep 02, 2016 13:08

Trying to write:
filesystem(s)
Gives me a "Sucuri WebSite Firewall " error page saying that I'm trying an:
Exploit attempt denied by virtual patching.

Yes, I know I managed to write what I wanted to, but only after a binary search of the text I was trying to post to find out what it was that the firewall was objecting to and wrapping the parentheses in:
filesystem(s)

system(
It looks like it's just that bit that's the trigger.

The silliness of it all is that it thinks that
system (
is OK, even though in whatever scripting language(s) it's trying to protect, both forms are likely to have the same effect.

It's beginning to look line "steel doors in paper walls" security.

IMHO this Sucuri solution creates as many (if not more) problems than it solves. Then again, I'm not in charge of running the forums and not privy to the challenges associated. I imagine that the first order of business would be to keep the forum software updated.
