Re: Will a 2TB USB stick in a use in V2 pvr?

Are you sure it is 2TB, not 2GB? A 2TB USB drive in a stick form factor would be either an external SSD (expensive) or a normal USB stick with fake capacity (usually at a price too good to be true, although some scammers will sell fake drives at same prices as genuine articles). Before you put any d...

Re: Speed has dropped and not sure why

If the router speed drops down to 100 Mbps/s on more than one router port, it stands to reason that it's the cable or the thing connected to the other end of the cable that's causing the slow speed. Since you tried multiple cables and got the same results, that leaves the Beyonwiz as the most likely...

Re: Anyone got a manual??

The AP-U1, IMNSHO, is not a great remote. It came from the factory pre-programmed with one set of Beyonwiz codes (only about 90% compatible), but these were just loaded into the "user" memory. If at any stage you reset the AP-U1, all the Beyonwiz codes would be lost and the only way to get...

Re: Is Beyonwiz still in buisness

Make sure that the enclosures don't put the HDD to sleep. Or that the drive isn't programmed to go to sleep. Leave the HDD power management to the Beyonwiz, otherwise you will end up with what amounts to unexpectedly disconnecting the HDD. That's bad juju.

If you are trying to record directly to a USB stick, then I am not surprised that you see problems. The majority of USB sticks are not designed for real-time recording performance and can have unacceptable write latency. The above symptoms do not match a failing HDD. The most likely explanation is a dying power supply in the DP-P1. ext2 is a poor choice as it lacks robust journaling. If you leave the HDD formatted as ext2, you will eventually lose data - most probably the whole lot.

I suggest zeroing out the first 2MB of the drive and formatting the HDD using the Beyonwiz. Make sure you are using up to date firmware.

80 Mega Bytes per second transfer rates are approximately what you can expect with Gigabit Ethernet on a Beyonwiz PVR. 10 Mega Bytes per second would suggest that the link speed has dropped to 100 Megabit, instead of one Gigabit. 32 bit Linux ext4 tools have issues with filesystems larger than 16TB. You probably won't run into these problems, as they mostly manifest when modifying an existing filesystem. After all of that, the most likely root cause appears to be that you don't have proper name resolution working on your network. The most likely problem is that you have the volume level on the Beyonwiz set wrong. It should be turned up to maximum, then turned down with exactly one brief button press. After you do that, only use the TV / receiver / sound bar to control the volume. Do not use the volume control on the Beyonwiz.
