It could also be the "no framebuffer available" error.
enigma2 will terminate and retry, rinse repeat a few times until the "init" process says enough's enough and sin-bins it for 5 mins, then away we go again.
Only a reboot fixies it.

But the answer to your original question is that there's no issue if you delete the enigma2_execution.log. It will be re-created the next time something is written to it. ... which is when the GUI starts up, or stops (or is killed), and the same for the "GUI pre-start" script if it exists.
