I'll chime in and say our WDTV Streaming Media Player has been pretty good. Wifi, Ethernet connections, can see our NAS and our PC's, has a Youtube player etc. We have the more expensive version, which in hindsight wasn't the best move as the cheaper model has been hacked to run alternative firmware...

WizMac for Mountain Lion?
Hi all, hope I'm not hijacking this thread (but it's certainly an old one!).
Is WizMac being actively developed still? Would there be any chance of an updated version that will run on OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)?

Hmmm, these days the TARDIS seems to go exactly where she's told, which is one of my beefs with the current reincarnation. Gully I too have just bought a WDTV Live SMP and had similar beefs. I've found 3 or 4 files that won't play - a couple of MT2S files and an MP4. But other files of the same type...

Just a thought, could it be a dynamic channel management issue - a mux change or something and the timer for a temporarily-missing channel gets lost? Just putting the idea out there, I have DCM turned off as we have marginal signal and I've always been suspicious of it. EDIT: Yeah what Ian said. :-)

Netmask I know!! It works fine when powered on, it's the passthrough that's got me confused. And yeah, the passthrough did work with the Yamaha. I am considering just trying some different HDMI cables, I must have a couple more in my mystery bag of tricks. Am sure the two that I'm currently using ar...

Ok so I have narrowed it down a bit. If I set the BW audio format to 'Passthrough', I get no audio from the TV speakers when the amp is off. If I set it to '2ch', I get audio from the TV speakers when the amp is off. This is less than desirable as I would then be feeding the amp (when it's on) with ...

Well I went ahead and purchased and it's all working quite well with one caveat. I cannot for the life of me get the audio to work in HDMI pass through mode. I swear it worked during initial setup of the amp but I can't get it to work now. Video's fine but no sound. Have even done a factory reset on...

ONKYO amplifier compatibility / stability
Hi all Am considering the purchase of an Onkyo TX-SR309 amplifier. Having seen a couple of threads on here about Onkyo issues with the BW and with some TV's I thought I would ask if anyone has any experience of this model and its reliability. Anyone have any thoughts? http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/...

Dead amp after one week
I just recently bought a new Yamaha amplifier. (A week ago) Had it all cabled up, sounding really great. Last night it abruptly switched off and can't be turned back on. It has a red light near the power switch but that's it. I disconnected it from power for 10 minutes, turned back on, nada. Also di...

I wonder if there is a governing body for HDMI, at whose website there might be a list of certified devices?
You could trawl http://www.hdmi.org/ or http://www.hdmiforum.org/ and see what you can find perhaps.

Kingo, in my opinion, because it's very similar to what mine was doing, it's a hardware problem. I had mine for about 11 months before the hard drive failed, then got a hard drive replacement which failed after a week. At that point BW replaced the entire unit, which has been going well so far. To m...

Returned my unit to BW HQ at Ingleburn today. Nasa the technician (I think that is his name) gave me a whole new unit. Now, on the new unit, I've tried to play a 720P MKV file, which has been fine before, but this one won't play correctly. The video plays fine but the audio plays really fast and out...

Thanks Ian. That's what I thought too. I'll ring them Monday. Couple more notes: the empty guide was my fault. I had not plugged in the network cable properly so the time was not set. And lastly, I've just rebooted the unit one more time. No hdd at all now, and on latest reboot, we have a flashing r...

Well, it looks like the story might be a continuing one. Yesterday while watching a file from the contents folder (one of the recordings saved from the previous hard drive, in TS format) the unit locked up, after a few sudden seconds of choppy playback. When I first moved from my 5000 Toppy to the BW, it felt like a step backwards in terms of functionality and hackability, however, I've now come to appreciate its stability and reliability and realised that I actually bought the PVR to watch telly rather than play with INI files. Having said that, I...

Warkus - yep you are right, that one flash by itself is only one second after all, so error 0001. Fortunately, BW HQ is only 37 minutes away (Google Maps-wise) Ian - touch wood, I have managed to boot it and have the drive visible, so will try copying my recordings off overnight, fingers crossed. DPLite-i HDD errors and flashing lights
Hi all Got a bit of a problem with our DPLite-i. Feels like a dead/dying hdd... This morning when I turned it on, it wanted to do a HDD repair, which I duly let it do. Tonight we went to play back an earlier recording and found that it wanted to play it at double speed, or skipped and chirped while ...

Now I'm intrigued. ICE TV always seemed to me an unnecessary complication. If you're comparing it's usefulness to be on a par with that of the PVR itself, may a 3 month trial is worth it. What are the things you find most useful Paul55? I've occasionally wanted to recored a show when I'm out and for...
