When the obvious culprits have been eliminated, I reflash the firmware. It sounds like the usb port isn't working properly. Could be software or hardware. Hopefully, not the latter.

Re: Problems since SSD disk upgrade?
I think it is now coming down to a definition of “pixilating”. My “classical definition” would be the breakup of picture and sound which would be associated with an antenna/ tuner problem, and is noticeable watching live TV or on playback of a recorded program. What AvB and myself are experiencing ...

Re: Problems since SSD disk upgrade?
Pixellated recording problems have a strong association with the Beyonwiz USB tuner having poor sensitivity. I spent months investigating my T3 pixellating. Note that my degree is in electronics. I found it could be improved by adding amplification but the best solution was to replace it with a &quo...

According to the unofficial comparison guide it's:
12 volts, 2 amps minimum, 5.5 mm plug, 2.1 mm centre positive
Generally available on amazon and Ebay and some computer/electronics stores and maybe Officeworks.

To quote the Hitchhikers Guide, don't panic! As requested, reinstalled FW and then figured out that it was the next small FW update that comes in online afterwards causing the problem. Sometimes a reboot works as you found out. Sometimes switching off at the powerswitch on the rear works, particularly if recording from HDMI IN plays up.
Glad it came good for you.

To quote the Hitchhikers Guide, don't panic! I don't have a V2 but your problem sounds very much like corrupted firmware or settings. Re: U4 lost HTTP/OpenWebif. "can't establish a connection to the server"
Maybe it's simplistic but, when a Beyonwiz misbehaves, I reflash and don't restore settings. If the problem goes away I restore the settings and check again. If the problem returns I know I have a corrupt setting.
If that doesn't fix it, it means the answer lies elsewhere.

Re: U4 reception issues
In my experience, BeyonWiz tuners are less sensitive than TVs and benefit from amplification. A masthead amplifier is preferred and is a better bet than the $200 service fee.
May not solve the problem but the Bunnings style amp is definitely an option I have used successfully in the past.
