The ABC has indeed played with Audio Description services in the past. They would tend to add an extra audio mux to the feed when it suited them. I haven't seen them do it recently.

Micro: ~250 mg
46Mb/s x 60,000 = 2.6Tb/s
And a pallet of 7x7x8 boxes could give ~1Pb/s
So a 15Kg box could hold ~60000 of the little cards.... would be about 5.8MB/s, or 46Mb/s

Hacky idea, add a local url to the bouquet, the local url is a "cgi" that calculates the appropriate true url and issues it in a 302 redirect (temporary move). Adding additional handlers to the inbuilt webserver is trivial.

A work around is to schedule a 1 minute recording to the NAS a few minutes before the real recording. This will poke the NAS and have it wake up, so when the real recording starts the NAS is ready. Not keen on the flattening idea.
A simple touch on the directory entry after the mv would bump the modified date/time for purging.
Also there is the delete a folder of the same name as one already in the trash purging that one inconvenience.
