I don't want android either. I don't trust google at all. Their aim would be to know what you watch, and then use it against you. Android is based on Linux anyway. I'd rather have the real thing.

I have actually recorded 4 programs simultaneously using 2 beyonwiz's so I'd find 6 tuners useful on the odd occasion. Ratings season is probably when this would be needed. I wonder about disk bandwidth for 6 shows at once, particularly if all HD. Maybe they have an SSD in there somewhere.

I've always preferred XFS over ext3. Not sure if that is an option on QNAP. In particular if the kernel is based on 3.0+ linux kernel XFS will probably perform better than ext4 and in a more predicatble manner. ext4 is still a bit new for my liking.

I would have thought a warranty claim would have been the first thing to try. I think even refurbished units have that, at least the ones I looked at did. I have 2 P2s and they don't overheat. The case is warmest above the PSU, however.

Hi Ian,
I thought re-indexing was for recordings on the BW itself. I tried it anyway and it made a couple of recordings show up on the BW but made no difference to the NAS directory behaviour.

No help sorry. I have not seen this problem. It almost always works for me. The only problem I have is that occasionally the edit won't work at all, but this is non-destructive and I just have to transfer the whole thing up to the PC to edit.

So when you are in a directory with missing files what happens when you use the left and right arrow keys to move between the media filetypes (at the top.) You should try using both arrows to see if anything changes in the listed files as the media type changes.

I do quite a few recordings and top and tail them all, pretty much. It has happened to me maybe twice since the firmware update and was also probably just as rare before that. The workaround mentioned here has always solved it for me.
