Re: Issue connecting wifi on U4

As an alternative you might consider a wifi mesh system. Probably more expensive, but in my experience likely to have nuch better data transfer performance than powerline adapters. I am also one of those who prefers ethernet over wifi wherever possible. If you go mesh choose a system that can be ru...

Re: Issue connecting wifi on U4

Yeah, my fallback was to get a wifi bridging switch, but the dongle was neater, if it can work. Ethernet over power means two more double adaptors. You can get units with pass-through for the power point. My TP-link ones have a pass-through. Make sure that they do not block the second power outlet ...

I have a deep-seated dislike for wifi connections for my devices. I prefer to use ethernet over power line - aka HomePlug. TVHeadend has a on-board web server which has many functions that Openwebif has. In some way it is more powerful but there are (I assume) some things it does not do that Openwebif can do.

Thanks, dRdoS7 You get fee IceTV access for 3 months (IceTV IceBox) or 1 month (BYOB). So you can try it and decide if it is worth the nominal subscription prices....

The IceBox is based on LibreELEC Kodi platform - the PVR function is provided by TVHeadend. Still a bit rough around the edges but is in active development. Has ad-skipping, which works very well. Takes a bit of getting used to the RCU, but LibreELEC supports a wide range of RCUs. Not sure what uppe...

The IceTV IceBox uses generic components for the NUC. You can load whatever OS you wish if you do not like the IceBox experiences ( which is getting better as time goes on).

Sorry cannot help. I was temporarily in the same position earlier in the week - misplaced the V2 RCU. The U4 RCU works for the V2.

As a temporary measure, there are some things you can do using Openwebif.

There is a European PVR which looks identical to the V2, and its RCU may work.

SmartEPG Vu+ also works with IceTV - I tested it for several months a few years back.

I agree that IceTV is well worth $8 a month (1.75 coffees)

Good advice in the previous post.

Autotimers are very useful, however you may find the SmartEPG vu+ addon to be more suitable. I only use it because I used on my Toppys.

PS I use IceTV on the majority of my Beyonwiz units.

Sending it off to Nasa may be premature. Try deleting all partitions on the drive - there could be a file system error that could not be corrected by SeaTools. If you have a spare 2.5" drive it; or a spare USB HDD. File system corruption can happen to PVRs - had it happen to Beyonwiz, Topfield,...

The first thing I would try would be to delete the autor-timer using OpenWebif, assuming the V2 is networked. Auto-timer is one of the categories on the Left Hand side. The hard link to timeshift probably got broken when you removed the USB HDD, unless it was to the SD card which I understand many u...

The IceTV IceBox is a possibility. The firmware is still being developed and is not a sophisticated as Enigma 2 base PVRs such as Beyonwiz. Out of the box it supports up to 8 tuners; it has better tuner support than the Beyonwiz. You can build-your-own or get a complete unit from IceTV.

For the most reliable performance with PVR a surveillance or NAS drive is best. But these days standard drives are incredibly reliable.
